So..K finally popped the question

I'm officially engaged!

He popped the question during our third year anniversary. I wasn't expecting it to be so early, but oh well, pleasant surprise! :D

We went to Morton's for dinner that night. I have no idea why but I was feel out of place at such restaurants.

It was a weekday but the place was packed. Didn't know there were so many rich people around. i mean, Morton's isn't dinner that you can simply afford everyday but the people looked real at home there.

Gigantic piece of bread. None of that thinly-sliced nonsense. okay I kid. But the bread here is seriously huge. You can like, make a meal out of it.

$90 seafood chilled platter. I got a shock when K ordered this because come on, there's like 8 or 9 pieces of food so basically you're paying $10 per bite. But to be honest it was really good la, you can tell the seafood was really fresh and the prawn...omg the prawn..so succulent.

T-bone steak. Ok la the picture isn't very well-taken because the lighting is really dim. But you can see how juicy that piece of meat is. And it was huge so we had to share it. I'm not really a fan of steaks but even I had to admit that Morton's is really doing something right.

Mashed fries pancake, or something like that. By the time this thing came we were so full we couldn't even finish it and had to cancel dessert. This seem mediocre compared to the steak and the seafood platter, but on its own it's actually quite nice I guess. But quite overpriced at $25. And we fed like half of this to Haha (our dog, sort of) so Haha had a really good and expensive supper.

Dinner at Salt Grill & Sky Bar

We celebrated our 2nd anniversary at Salt Grill & Sky Bar. K was acting all secretive about it, refusing to tell me where we were going but I guessed it right from the start. :P

Salt Grill & Sky Bar is located on the 55th floor of ION Orchard. You go up to the fourth floor in the shopping mall, then the guy behind the counter will lead you through this like, passage way before you come to a private lift.

The lift only services the 4th floor and the 55th floor. But the lift is damn cool, the light will 'travel upwards' as the lift goes up.

Salt Grill & Sky Bar has reeeeaaaaallly dim lighting. It was so dim that you could hardly read the menu and you can't really see what you are eating as well. But I guess that's also to make the night view more contrasting.

There's a different section for the bar on the 56th floor.

We got a window seat. The view is simply amazing. I mean, you're right in the city centre and you're looking down from one of the tallest buildings there. you feel as if the world is at your feet.

But then it also made me realise, Singapore is actually not that well-lit at night compared to other cities.

 Bread for starters.

 This was a complimentary (vegetable?) soup from the chef. But it tasted really weird in an uncool way so we both just left it.

Okay I don't remember what this is called. Some sort of tapas with cherry tomato and mayo?

I had the Barramundi. Ordered the salmon at first but they ran out of it.

 K had some pork thing, which came with three types of pork parts and a caramelized apple.

Triple chocolate for dessert.

The food at Salt Grill & Sky Bar was exorbitantly expensive but the quality of the food was just meh. Luke Mangan advertised themselves as one of Australia's leading chefs and restauranteurs and is deemed highly regarded internationally as a shining example of Australia's culinary culture. But what I can conclude is that I've had better food for a fraction of the price. The serving was also quite small. I mean, I know it's fine dining, but still. For the price we paid, it really wasn't that fantastic but I guess the price is paid more for the view, the ambience and the service instead of what you're actually eating. I mean, what I remember from that night was what a great time I was having, what a great boyfriend I have, but not wow, this is really delicious food. But at least it was a very good dining experience.

They also had this machine to let you look at the view outside in three separate windows, one for morning, one for night, and a live view as well.

 And we realized you could actually use it to spy on some of the apartments. Hahaha. Made me feel like I was an undercover agent. Super cool.

 They also had this service where they will take a photo for you and print it out, kind of like a souvenir for dining there, which is quite a creative idea when you think about it.

 Sometimes when I think about it, I get really amazed at how K and I got together, and how far we have come from where we were. I mean, we really went through shit at the start, but I'm glad we've ironed all that out and it's not something that we need to go through again.

I'm a really weird person and I get very emotional at times. my mood swings are just crazy and I don't think anybody else can actually stand it and still love me for who I am other than K.

So an-dui ssi, I know you're reading this, and I just wanna say that I LOVE YOU :D

Kite flying at Marina Barrage

K and I took advantage of the fantastic weather and headed to Marina Barrage for another kite flying session some time back.

Little did we know, it was really crowded that day because NTUC income was having an event there as well.

Lucky Marina Barrage is quite big.

Kites nowadays are getting so high tech. Instead of the flat surface ones, you have those like balloons, shaped into dragons, cartoon characters and the like. There's also the ones controlled with two hands, the ones floating in a trail, the ones with hollow centres. How do people even come up with such ideas.

One section was cordoned off for the NTUC income event, but they ended around 4 plus, that's why we managed to take pictures of the display.

Marina Barrage is really a family-friendly place I feel. What's more, it's so convenient and accessible now with the circle line. It gives off a really cosy and happy vibe. And the scenery is just amazingly beautiful.

Singapore doesn't really have much green spaces left and places like Marina Barrage just makes me all the more grateful.

We walked back to the Marina Bay Sands area using the linked pedestrian walk way. This is Gardens by the Bay, situated along the pedestrian walk. There were so many people roller blading or walking their dogs. I also want leh.

Singapore Really Really Free Market

Besides the SOSD Adoption Drive on 30 June, we also went to the Singapore Really Really Free Market at Eurasian Community House.

The Singapore Really Really Free Market is a market where everything is free. All goods and services are shared free and nothing is for sale.

It was actually quite near Katong, but K and I stupidly followed the google maps and ended up walking all the way from Paya Lebar MRT. It was so far omg. There were people selling vegetables in the back alleys, dubious houses and the like, and the whole walk felt so surreal because it kind of felt like we were overseas.

the scale of the event was much smaller than what I had expected. I kind of expected it to be more like the (paying) fleas that I used to frequent. But this was more of a cosy affair held just in the hall itself.

There were free ukelele lessons.

And Japanese lessons.

And free doodles.

And tarot card reading.

And games! We were supposed to play a cotton ball through some set obstacles.

They even had a meditation booth. Imagine that.

And we went for the 2-mins free massage, which actually turned out to be pretty good!
