Food Review: Imperial Treasure La Mian Xiao Long Bao (Marina Square)

Had dinner at  Imperial Treasure La Mian Xiao Long Bao at Marina Square. I was too tired and lazy to walk and all the other shops had tons of queue outside, so we settled for this place. Lucky for us, since there were only two of us, we skipped the queue and went right in.

Shifus making xlbs.

We wanted to try a few dishes so we ordered things to share.

Fried rice with fresh water shrimp and preserved vegetable - $10.80

It looked very simple but surprisingly very nice. The wok-hei (pan smell?) wasn't heavy and the MSG taste not strong. the shrimp was cut up into small pieces so you don't have to worry about how you take a few small bites and the prawns are all gone.

Dumpling in Chilli Oil - $5.60

A must-order for me at any chinese restaurant. But this wasn't that nice. The chilli padis in the oil were the big kind, as can be seen from the picture. I prefer the small kind like the ones served in Ding Tai Fong. Because it's dumplings, there's lesser meat and more skin compared to wantons, and I would prefer wantons instead.

xiao long bao - $4

The xlb is nice! Maybe because we've (okay it's me la) been craving for xlbs for the longest time. The skin was thin and the soup was hot. I like! There's supposed to be four but we were too tempted so we ate one each before taking the photo.

Chestnut and chicken (forgot the exact name alr) - $12

This can be found under the poultry and frogs section. Reminds me of the ones my mom used to cook, very home-y. The chap (sauce) was very nice, think it'll go very well with plain rice. The chicken very tender and not tough at all. Actually I like this dish the most.

Would definitely want to go back and try the other things. Any dishes to recommend?
